This is our 11th Valentine’s day together. I’ll be honest, I don’t remember EVERY Valentines we’ve shared… but I remember a few. There was that year that I was a junior in high school and Michael was in college. I was having a tough time and he knew that. I missed him and high school just wasn’t the same without him. I remember walking through the halls that day and seeing everyone with flowers and bears and chocolate. Girls were talking to their boyfriends as classes would change and I just wanted the day to be over. I never understood how annoying Valentines day could be until my “Valentine” wasn’t around anymore.
I walked out of school that day at 2:32 when the last bell rang and headed towards my car in the student parking lot. I unlocked my VW Bug and when I opened the door, there were a dozen roses in my seat. I was shocked and as I looked around to see who delivered these, I saw him in the back of the parking lot. The flowers weren’t delivered by a florist, Michael delivered them himself. He drove home from college in the middle of the week to bring me roses. Not only did he bring me roses, he had rented this romantic movie that had JUST come out…. it’s called “The Notebook”, you may have heard of it. :) We watched the movie and hung out all afternoon until it was time for him to go back to school.
Michael has always been good at surprises… and those surprises continued throughout our engagement and now our marriage. He surprised me with breakfast this morning and for lunch we’re eating our first meal in our new house…. Chickfila on the floor! :) Tonight we’re going somewhere… again, it’s a surprise. He spoils me…. and not only on Valentines day. I’m so thankful for him, more so now than ever before. I couldn’t imagine doing life without him…. or running with business without him. So today, on our 11th Valentine’s day, I’m so thankful for the husband God has given me and I’m excited for the many Valentines days to come!!
