I blogged about our trip to Hawaii and we started to get so many emails about ONE thing. You guessed it….. the resounding question was “WHAT LENSES DID YOU USE?!” Well there was once a day when I used to take MULTIPLE lenses on vacation and I am excited to announce that those days are over!! Yep! I’ve found my traveling soul-mate in lens form and it rocked my world in Hawaii!! The truth is, you don’t NEED to have all of your lenses… you just need to have the capabilities of all of your lenses! For example….
When I travel I want to have a WIDE lens AND a PORTRAIT lens. I also want to have zoom capabilities of some kind in case I do something crazy like fly in an airplane over a volcano and I need to have a longer focal length!
The 24-70 2.8 was re-done a while ago and I heard that it was great but to be completely honest, I’m a PRIME LENS kind of girl! I love the look and the feel of prime lenses and so this lens wasn’t even on my radar! However, after some advice from friends and doing a little research, I decided to give it a try and it was PERFECT for me! I could zoom a little, it was super wide, I could still shoot fairly wide open at 2.8 and at 70mm, it takes beautiful portraits!!
I can’t tell you how FREEING it was to not have to think about what lens to use at every. single. stop. I loved having ONE option that was versatile and durable! The reason I just brought up the adjective “durable” is because this lens got DROPPED at the LAX airport before our trip!! It was a hard fall and I was afraid we had just witnessed the death of this brand new lens but thankfully Tyler Herrinton had convinced me to get this lens a filter and it saved the day!!!
Overall, it seems like this lens was made for travel and it worked SO well for me!!!! If you keep scrolling below, you’ll see the WIDE variety of styles that this one lens can create!! Enjoy and…
Happy Wednesday!!
