noticed how many engagements have been on the blog recently?! WOWSERS! It’s just that time of the year. A HUGE shoutout to all of my sweet couples who have worked hard to make their session UNIQUE! Whether it’s shooting on a campus that means a lot to the couple, or shooting on capital hill or even at a State fair… these couples have made it easy for me to create a unique session for each one of them and I love them for it! Ryan and Shannon are no exception. We met in DC and started their engagement session at the Botanical Gardens.
GORGEOUS. Why have I never shot there before?! I loved that place!! We only had about 10 minutes to shoot before they closed and let me just say… we got a LOT accomplished in ten minutes!
So you may recognize Ryan. He was one of Michael’s groomsmen and was my next door neighbor during college. I remember when Ryan and Shannon first started talking. I would go over to the guys house and someone would say “Where’s Ryan?!”….. and the other guys would answer… “Where do you think?…… He’s with Shannon”. When you’re looking for your soulmate and you think you found her… I think it’s pretty understandable why Ryan would want to spend as much time with her as possible. They became best friends. They dated throughout college and then Ryan graduated and they had to do long distance for a while. I know from experience that long distance relationships are tough. They made it through that season of life and then came the proposal! We were ALL waiting for it! We knew it was coming… we just didn’t know when! So one night, when Michael shouted from behind his laptop “Ryan PROPOSED!!!”…. we were both so excited for these two! What an amazing couple! I can’t WAIT for this wedding next summer!!! Ryan and Shannon, congratulations!!! Michael and I couldn’t be happier for you two!! Your engagement session was a blast! Even in the midst of dodging tourists and having security guards blow whistles at us… you looked amazing. True pros! I can’t wait to document your love on the big day!! Come on JULY!!!
Shannon’s ring is a size THREE!!! I could barely get it on my pinky!! It’s so beautiful though! Well done Ryan!
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
