Back in January we sat in a living room and threw out ideas for our businesses. It was casual and it was lighthearted. We were dreaming big…something that happens often when we’re with our friends, Buddy and Jill. However, we came to the conclusion that one of our ideas was actually possible… and we decided to make it happen. We launched The Wedding Collective Giveaway and we were first blown away by the vendors that came out of the woodwork to be a part of it! There are still GOOD PEOPLE in the world!!! Amazing people! People who just wanted to GIVE and SERVE and freely be a blessing to a couple that deserved it.
Not only were we blown away by the vendor response, we were also in awe of the stories of so many couples. We sat in the living room at Big Spring Farm and watched over 50 videos and some of us sobbed…. I sobbed. It was so touching. So many stories, so many couples. Alex and Laura’s story was such a beautiful story of both hardship and victory over cancer. As we continued with this journey after the contest portion was complete, we loved getting to know them more and more.
Michael and I met them for brunch, we spent at day at the farm with them earlier this summer and Buddy and Jill got to spend Fourth of July with them too! They are the type of people that you feel like you could have grown up with. They’re welcoming, warm and have such genuine personalities. The more we got to know them, the more excited we became about serving them on their wedding day.
The wedding day arrived and it was rainy. Most people would freak out… most vendors would freak out…. but not this team. It was a day full of quick decisions and rain plan alterations but it worked. After years of dating, these two promised forever in front of their family and friends (and their pup Bailey!). Their ceremony was OUTSIDE under a gorgeous pergola full of Amanda veronee’s incredible florals and they were stunning!!!
It was a miracle! As soon as they recessed, the heavens started to let loose! It was perfect timing. Even in the rain, there is such beauty. Laura’s mother got up to say a few words. She held up a mason jar filled with water and explain that rainy wedding days mean good luck. She went on to explain that rain on a wedding day represents being able to whether ANY storm… which Alex and Laura have already done. Lastly, she shared rain on a wedding day means that the couple will have a lot of children. There’s a scottish tradition to save rain water from a wedding day and use it baptize their first born. She handed the newlyweds a mason jar full of rain water that she had collected that day and the tears were flowing! :)
I could go on and on about this day. The vendors, the decor, the venue…. but I really think these images speak for themselves. Enjoy this gorgeous labor of love!! It was an HONOR to be a part of this and there is SO much “Behind the scenes” content to share… as well as their highlight film by Shaina and Mike!! Ah!!!! Enjoy!

Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
