This post has been burning a hole in my computer since the night I updated the files! I’ve been DYING to share them!! However, because I was a second shooter and Jill was shooting a lot of film, we needed to wait until the scans came back and I’m so glad we did because now we get to blog this beautiful day TOGETHER!! I’ll never forget the night when we were at dinner with Calvin and Brittany in Charlottesville.
We were sitting around the table and talking about their wedding plans and that’s when we officially decided that Jill and I were going to shoot their wedding TOGETHER!!! We were SO excited! Michael got the day off this time and even though we were a bit lost without our guys, Jill and I made a pretty awesome team!! Our styles may be different but our personalities are literally the same and so we had a blast shooting together! The only scary part of the day was when I drove us to the ceremony in the dark without my headlights on. Yikes! Michael does all of the driving in our family and so evidently I wasn’t used to being behind the wheel!!!
One of the reasons I was so excited about this wedding was because not only did I get to shoot it with one of my best friends but we also know and love Calvin and Britt personally…. AND they were getting married at Richmond’s newest wedding venue… The Quirk Hotel!!! This boutique hotel was the perfect venue for Calvin and Brittany’s elegant and intimate wedding celebration! The balloons fell at midnight while the band was playing and in that moment, I thought “This is LITERALLY everything they ever wanted for their wedding!!” and it was true! They were surrounded by their family and friends, ringing in the new year and celebrating their new marriage under the stars in downtown RVA!! It was such a dreamy night and I’ve been DYING to share these!!! Ps. Don’t miss their first look… it’s definitely one of my top 5!!
A big thank you to Noelle at Quirk for all of her help and hospitality!!!
I’m just in love with the interior design of Quirk!! It’s so clean and bright with pops of light pink!
I want you to imagine Jill and I running around the lobby of Quirk shooting and squealing when we got something good! We would shoot and then swap details and then compare and share ideas. It was just the best!
How beautiful is this?! Go check Jill’s blog for more details! I love this invitation shot of hers!
Jill was with the girls while I was with the guys! Loved this shot of hers!
One of my favorites!
This is what they like to call, the “Griffith” laugh! Their whole family laughs like this and it’s contagious!
Oh my gosh… just the sweetest. Jill and I were crying just watching them cry! These moments were precious!
So classic!
Jill took some awesome groomsmen portraits! View more on her blog!

Ever felt that wave of anxiety before a photoshoot—the kind that makes your mind race with thoughts like What if I freeze? What if I run out of ideas? What if my clients feel awkward?
When it comes to wedding photography, the right lens can make all the difference. But let’s be honest—gear can get expensive. So when Canon introduced the RF 85mm f/2.0—a lens with portrait, macro, and image stabilization capabilities for just $500—I knew I had to put it to the test.
Have you ever started a session, camera in hand, and suddenly felt stuck? Your couple is standing there, looking at you, waiting for direction… and your mind goes blank.
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
