The first thing you need to know is that I was nervous about this engagement session! I am always a little nervous for each engagement session but this one had even more pressure! Why? Because Austin and Melissa drove from DETROIT to RICHMOND for their engagement session! They acted like it was no big deal but to me… it was a HUGE deal! These images needed to be GORGEOUS! Ah! I always want my engagement sessions to be gorgeous but when you know your couple gave up three days to travel all the way to your town to have their portraits done, they just have to be extra perfect!
Thankfully we had the most amazing day for their shoot! It was 70 degrees and we had the perfect amount of GLOW at the end of the evening! And it wasn’t just any GLOW, it was lightly diffused GLOW! …. Which is the BEST kind of glow!! We loved every second of our time with Melissa and Austin! Their sense of humor and laughter cracked us up the entire time. They were willing to do whatever I dreamed up and it paid off! Their portraits are some of my favorites that I’ve shot this year! I love leaving a session knowing that I have new photos to add to my “Best of 2016” gallery!
These two have been through seasons of long distance, moves and so many transitions. They are more than ready to be married and Michael and I feel so honored that we get to be a part of this season of their life! We hugged them goodbye and we left with full hearts and so much excitement for the wedding! If you think Melissa is gorgeous in these images, just want until you see her as a bride! I can’t wait to see her in her gown! It’s going to be amazing!!
Enjoy some of my favorites from their session. Ps. We somehow managed to still find some blooms! This has been the WEEK OF BLOSSOMS in my images!! I love it!
This wisteria made my DAY!!!
You two are beautiful!!
Aren’t they the cutest?!
Ok, I’ll tell you a secret… Michael was holding these branches very strategically so that I could have an awesome foreground! It wasn’t quite as romantic in real life as it looks here! ha!
Ok I had to lay on my BACK for this because I was sitting up on an embankment. I looked ridiculous but it was so worth the embarrassment!
I love this spot!!!
This is a little more glowy than normal for me but hey! How can you not LOVE this?! It’s magical!

Have you ever started a session, camera in hand, and suddenly felt stuck? Your couple is standing there, looking at you, waiting for direction… and your mind goes blank.
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone.
