know what you’re going to get with a location. One thing I have learned from trial and error and from some other fabulous photographer’s with way more experience than I have… is that you have to work with what you’ve got! (not proper English, I know) I remember showing up to a wedding when I was first starting and thinking to myself…. oh my…. this location is miserable…there aren’t going to be ANY good portraits… I’m totally sunk. I was looking for the perfect spot, the perfect light and the perfect portrait. But what makes a portrait perfect? I was so concerned with looking for perfection that I missed my opportunity for originality.
Being a photographer is very much a performance. I have to be “on” during a session… thinking of poses, light, locations, creating conversation, getting to know my clients and constantly fighting the urge to stay in my comfort zone. It’s a tough job and I don’t always feel like I master all of these areas… actually, I feel like I fail a lot….. a whole lot. Being a photographer requires the ability to see things differently and that’s a hard job…. but when it happens…it feels awesome! Sharon and Chase’s location was AWESOME and I could have shot there ALL day… but it was just a beach and sand and steps. Even beautiful locations take creativity to make it original! This shot was taken on the stairs heading down to the water. There was nothing special about these stairs, so we had to MAKE it special and unique by using the light and creating lines! Funfun! Again, being unique and making locations match “my style” does not always come easily for me… I’m a work in progress! If you missed their session, click here!!!

Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?

Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
