I could write a BOOK on my wedding planning process. I really do. It was a long process and it took so much thought and looking back, I probably would have done a few things differently. However, you only have one chance with wedding planning. Our day was perfect (except for my eyelashes falling off). But throughout the planning process I wish I had known a few things…. for instance: Don’t freak out over invitations…they WILL come together and they WILL be CUTE. I worried about those things for WEEKS…..and I wasn’t the only bride who experienced the “invitation freakout”….. Sharon stressed about hers too!
It’s so nice to know that even in some of my CRAZIEST wedding moments… I’m not alone. All of you brides out there have random things that get under your skin…or parts of the planning process that you absolutely LOVE… and you ALL…. and I mean ALL have budgets to work with! So why not share some of this?!

Today’s Wedding Wednesday is featuring one of my amazing brides and fellow photographer, SHARON ELIZABETH! She’s going to share a little about her planning process and as you read about her upcoming wedding… you best be getting EXCITED because she is going to look AMAZING! … and Chase will too:) I can’t wait for JUNE!!
.
.
1. When and where will your wedding take place?
Chase and I will be getting married on June 4, 2011! The wedding is taking place in the backyard at his Uncle’s house! Awesome!
.
2. What has been the hardest part of your planning process?
The invitations!!! This was pretty difficult because we wanted CUTE invitations but they needed to be on a budget. We ended up having a friend design them (Ruffled Skirt Designs) and they’re perfect! I’d describe them…. but I’ll just let Katelyn show them off on the wedding post!
.
3. Describe the “Dress Shopping” experience!
We made the drive up to DC and after 2 hours and 10 dresses, I immediately knew which one was “THE ONE”! I literally paraded around the store dancing!
.
4. What have you LOVED about the planning process?!
Planning something that will bring my friends and family together. Sorry, I know this isn’t your typical answer… but I am most excited about ‘throwing a party’ for the ones I love most!!
.
5. What’s one DETAIL that you don’t mind sharing and absolutely LOVE!!!?
OoOOOh! My grandma is bringing down old barn windows and frames that she’s letting me use! Can we say ‘extra hug for her!?!?’
.
6. What are your top 3 priorities as you plan your wedding and why?!
I told Chase right after we got engaged that I had only a few stipulations: 1) He better show up 2) I wanted a good photographer and 3)I wanted ‘comfort food’!!
.
7. Are you more EXCITED or NERVOUS about the big day?! Almost 2 months to go!!:)
Oh, I am beyond excited! We both are!!! I may be a little nervous about crying too much! (I want pretty pictures) =)
.
8. What are your wedding colors and how did you decide them?
Wellllll, I had originally chosen an olive green and a grape purple – but instead of telling Chase that’s what we were going to do, I asked him what colors he wanted! He said he wanted blue and yellow – so… our colors are blue and yellow! (shrugs – it’s just colors)
.
9. If you had an extra $10,000 added to your wedding budget TODAY… what would you invest in?
A videographer – for sure! I’m on the verge of begging a family friend to pull out their 1982 video camera for us!
.
10. What advise do you have for a bride who has JUST gotten engaged?!!
a) BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER! If you know for sure who you want, book them ASAP… photographers book up so fast! I knew I wanted Katelyn as my photographer, so I booked her a year and a half out!
.
b) Ask people you love to be in your wedding party. One of my best friends (for 10 years now) is a guy, and for the first few months I was so worried about what other people in my small town would think… so much so that I didn’t ask him – and then one day it hit me… WHO CARES! I love him and he is an amazing best friend! He said yes, as long as he doesn’t have to wear a dress! (We’ll See) =)
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
