in a small town and then going to a small school made it super easy for Michael and I to make friends. We’re “People People” if that makes any sense. We’re naturally drawn to people and we enjoy having friendships with A LOT of people… maybe that’s why there were 400+ people at our wedding! AHHH! Crazy. Because we’ve been together so long…we feel like we have been collecting friends from every stage of life. We have friends from our home church, friends from CNU, friends from our new church and friends from the photography industry. We love these people and we’re so thankful for the impact they have had on our lives.
After getting married in the fall of 2010… we had just started our life in Richmond and were making new friends at church… most of them either being in their 40’s or in their teens so when we met Kurt and Jodi… it was like “Oh! Newlyweds! We need to be friends!!!”. We had so much in common and we were the same age and it was wonderful! Their friendship was and still is such a gift to Michael and I! We love these two!!! We’re both super busy couples but when we do get a free evening to grab dinner or swing by for a quick visit, it’s always such a good time and we’re so thankful for them!! Last weekend Michael and I actually had a day and a 1/2 FREE to do whatever we wanted! Imagine that!! So we drove toward the mountains and met up with Kurt and Jodi for dinner. One thing you need to know about Kurt is that he can COOK…. and I’m not talking like…. “hey lets grill a steak”… he’s LEGIT. You should see the all the crazy cooking contraptions he has! I’m still hoping that love for cooking will rub off on me… but that hasn’t happened yet:). Our friday night shoot got rained out so we were brave and shot the next morning! We both needed some updated images and so I shot them and they shot us!! I can’t wait to show you!!
After fighting off the rain, the wind and sinking into the mud… we found some great locations and it was wonderful. We had a great time and I’m so thankful for a quick trip away with my little family! (Bokeh joined us too!) THANK YOU Jodi and Kurt for squealing, barking and waving Bokeh’s “Mr. Pineapple” toy in the air in order to get a least one good shot of our 4 month old furball!!!
Enjoy some of my favorites!!
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?

Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
