There are several seasons of starting a business and what it looks like to continue to grow and scale as the business changes! We’re on the last episode of the Startup Series and the stage of business that I’m still in.
Each business has an ideal client, and caters to a certain demographic. And I want you to find the group of people that YOU are supposed to serve and cater to.
When I first started out in business, I was doing EVERYTHING. I tried family shoots, headshots, weddings, newborn sessions, and commercials.. But through doing that I learned what I was passionate about and I started to get picky about what I would say YES to.
I was saying yes to things that came naturally to me. By showcasing the things that I loved doing, people were attracted to what I loved! Anything that sucked the life out of me, I was taking off of my website.
Experts are a master of one thing in their field, they specialize in something very specific and know EVERYTHING about that one thing. If I am a specialist, then I can charge more and pursue the things that I love.
When I started to get picky, I noticed things about my business that I needed to change. I needed to change my business name from Inspired Designs to Katelyn James Photography. Your brand needs to be connected to YOU!
Changing my name was a scalable decision, because it got more recognition and I was the expert of that brand.
When I started focusing on things that I wanted to showcase that displayed who I was and what I wanted my brand to be about! I was confident in who I was and what I was supposed to be doing. I knew that there was a purpose for what I was doing!
Every human being has a gift on this Earth- they all have a purpose! And if you’re not sure what your gift and calling is, I challenge you to find that! What fires you up and gives you a purpose?
What I love the most about this business that we have built is that I have helped to empower people to find their purpose, gift and calling in THEIR life!
We want to help you grow in your passion and business, please email us and let us know what would be helpful to hear from us!
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
