destination weddings before…. but this was by FAR the LONGEST trip and one of my most exciting weddings. I’ll give you a little hint as to why I just said that…. WATER. SKIS. Yes, I know you’re excited now! You just wait until tomorrow’s post!! I’ll keep you hanging for now! So this destination wedding was to Iron Mountain, Michigan which is right next to the Wisconsin line. Our cousins…. or second cousins… cousins squared, whatever they are… they have a lake house on Spread Eagle Lake and that is how these two met! When you spend all of your summers skiing, wake boarding and laying out, you become close friends with everyone at the lake.
The Reynolds and the Buchanan family have been friends for quite some time. Katie and Britt water skied together since they were young. As everyone at the wedding viewed pictures of them from back in the day, who would have thought that these two would be getting married starting a family of their own! Their story is close to my heart for two reasons. 1. Britt is my second cousin and we absolutely adore their family. We refer to the Reynolds family as “The Cousins” and even though that title isn’t totally correct, the name sticked! We hadn’t been up to the lake for YEARS! Last time we were there I’m pretty sure I still had bangs and Emily and Corey spent all of their time leaning off the dock trying to catch fish in a NET! Ohh thank goodness we grew up since then! And the second reason I love Katie and Britt’s story is because it’s very similar to OUR story. Michael and I were best friends. We did everything together and then one day, we realized that maybe the reason we were best friends is because we were a perfect match for each other. Katie and Britt experienced that same feeling and there is nothing better than marrying your best friend! Doing LIFE together as husband and wife is such a gift!!

When I first found out that Britt and Katie wanted me to shoot their wedding I was honored and then I thought… oh the pressure is ON! Britt is a great photographer with an awesome eye. We had to be careful that we didn’t talk about lenses and lighting too much on their wedding day!! It was great seeing Britt and getting to FINALLY meet Katie, his beautiful bride! What an awesome couple! Enjoy this Wisconsin wedding and be sure to check back in tomorrow for their day after session….I’m serious, you don’t want to miss this one!

Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone.
