This was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever seen, but the timeline didn’t quite pan out like we had planned.. The rings got lost, hair & makeup went long, storms were rolling in and there were some stressful moments!
Sound familiar?! This can happen at ANY wedding but you need to know how to handle it since you are a professional photographer! The wedding portraits are the most important and you need to have a plan!
The ceremony was an hour and a half long, and I could see the sun getting lower and lower! Ahhhh
As they were leaving the ceremony, they saw just how dark it was and got on board with hustling to get the portraits done! But as the photographer, you need to have a plan!!!
I knew where the best light was and even though it was just in front of a big grassy field instead of the grandiose house.. This would be the best place!
We hurried through portraits, then wedding party and family formals with little light and my ISO cranked up to 2500. It was quick, rushed and not ideal but the results were still AMAZING!
So as I look back at this, it was such a WIN. There are a few tips though that can help you if you’re in a similar situation!
I flew through bridal party & family formals because natural light portraits of the couple were the most important!
You want to take your time and make sure your settings are in the right place! There are some things that you cannot fix in post-processing.
Think through the situation beforehand, and use your time wisely! You don’t want to be swayed by outside opinions. You need to tell them your plan and initiate it!
