Steven and Clare traveled all the way from Louisiana for their engagement session this past weekend. The hours they spent on the road to catch a flight and then the hours they spent driving to get to Richmond shows just how much this meant to them. Our relationship with Clare started years ago when she attended my workshop as a new photographer. She was so young but so brave. She was just getting started on her photography journey and it’s amazing to see where she’s taken her business.
She’s a thriving wedding photographer in her hometown and now she’s moving into such an exciting new season of life! In just a few months, she’ll be a wife! Clare and Steven are the epitome of what it looks like to be a team, and I can’t wait to see these two take on life and business together.
Clare inquired about having us shoot her wedding and was so gracious when we found out that we were unexpectedly pregnant. I couldn’t have asked for more understanding brides. The beautiful thing is that even though we can’t be a part of their wedding day, we were still able to be a part of this special season of their life by capturing their engagement session.
Obviously March in Virginia is still very cold and very “wintery”! I mean, we had an inch of snow on the ground yesterday! Despite the chilly temperature and the lack of leaves on the trees, I was still able to capture images that are bright and airy! We had to get a little creative, but thankfully Steven and Clare trusted me, and now they have a gallery full of beautiful images that I’m proud of!
I hope you enjoy this wintery engagement session! Thank you Clare for wearing the most perfectly flowy blush skirt and for bearing the cold temperatures. Thank you Steven for traveling all the way to Virginia so that your fiancee’s engagement session dreams could come true! It was such an honor to be a part of this season of your lives!
This week, Michael is sitting down with me at the microphone to join me on the podcast! When we started our Acton Academy journey, we had big dreams and very little idea of the practical challenges that lay ahead. Today, in year three of running our own Acton Academy, Michael and I are thrilled to reflect on the incredible transformation we’ve seen in our learners, our community, and even our own perspectives on education.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Erica and Jon, two incredibly talented photographers and educators who have redefined their business and life by embracing change. From leaving a corporate career to transforming their wedding photography business into a thriving brand photography venture, their story is full of inspiration for anyone looking to take bold steps and live life on their own terms.
I run a Facebook group with over 20,000 photographers, and something I see constantly are people sharing their editing struggles, asking for critiques, or seeking advice on how to fix issues in Lightroom.
This is going to go down as the wedding day were we got lucky over and over again. Blair and Ashley heard that there was a chance of rain on their wedding day but we all wrote it off as nothing and kept moving on with all of our original plans.
