Last week we drove out to Blacksburg for a few days because we had not one but TWO Hokie couples who wanted to have their engagement pictures taken in Blacksburg and on campus! It was the absolute BEST week for portraits because there were plenty of leaves left on the trees and yet it wasn’t 40 degrees! We loved walking around campus with Eric and Courtney. I love it when an engagement location means something special to the couple!
We started at the Pylons and then we headed around the drillfield to Burruss Hall. If you’re a Hokie, you know exactly where we were and if you’re not a Hokie, you’re probably thinking this sounds like gibberish! My brother is currently at school at Virginia Tech and my sister graduated from there as well. VT is a part of our family’s story and so I completely understand why Eric and Courtney wanted this special place to be where they documented this exciting season of their life!
Their outfits were perfect and their attitudes were so relaxed and ready for anything. When we said, “we’ve found some tall grass on the side of a parking lot!” they were totally fine with shooting there! We love working with couples that trust us and are willing to try new things. They have such an amazing variety of settings in their images and I can’t wait to share my favorites! We left their shoot so excited to be a part of their wedding. It’s amazing that year after year, we get to work with the most amazing couples! I love this job!!
Love this!
Thank you Corey and Michael for their “help” with this shot! :) It’s my favorite!
Oooh don’t you love this!?
Oh Courtney! You’re gorgeous!

Have you ever started a session, camera in hand, and suddenly felt stuck? Your couple is standing there, looking at you, waiting for direction… and your mind goes blank.
Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
