Hi there! I’m Katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. MJ + Jackie | Married

  • Anniversary + Maternity Shoot

You may be thinking “I didn’t think that Katelyn did maternity sessions!” and you would be correct. However, long story short, this is a very special exception to that rule because we had booked an anniversary session with these two and then it worked out perfectly to show off Jackie’s perfect bump at the same time! :) We have had to say no to so many anniversary and maternity sessions for so long because I was pregnant or because we just haven’t had enough time in our schedule to squeeze in extra shoots.

When Rangefinder magazine reached out to me about sharing what we had learned about Facebook tips during the last year or so, I thought to myself “Do they know I was on maternity leave and haven’t been on social media nearly as much recently?!” I felt like a fraud sharing advice when I hadn’t been practicing it daily. However, just because I took some time off doesn’t mean that what I know isn’t valid anymore. Facebook’s algorithms change rapidly, but what we did in the fall of 2016 still works today! I’m excited to share my little feature and also pass along all of the interview questions that I sent over to them!

A New Season, A New Website!

I wrote on my Instagram today that this new website design that we just launched was so much more than just an “update”! I needed this website re-design to help me get back into the swing of all things business while still navigating the new waters of motherhood! It’s hard! Before Evy, I had a one-track mind. That caused issues in our marriage, and so now we have a life coach that has transformed the way we relate and work together. But NOW… now I don’t have a choice! I can’t wake up every morning and just TRY to put Evy first… she HAS to be the most important priority in my life, and I have learned so much from being her momma the last three months!
