What has recently happened in your business that has made you most proud?!

The level of professionalism I’ve learned is mind-blowing. I not only run my business smoothly and efficiently, but I can relate to my clients, so they trust they’ll have a great experience with me. 

What part of your KJ Education experience has impacted you the most?

The workflow I learned from Katelyn has changed my life. I can shoot a wedding, complete post-production, and deliver a wedding within days, not weeks!

If you could sit down with a photographer that feels incredibly defeated and discouraged, what would you say to help them? Is there a story of overcoming and victory in your own story that you could share?

I was there; I was that photographer. My kids begged me to play with them, but I couldn’t; I was drowning in deadlines. I missed so many moments of my small children’s life trying to run a successful business. I was doing it all along. After KJ Education, I spend more time with my family and make more money working WAY less! The education taught me how to correct my images in-camera to edit more quickly and efficiently and deliver my images faster! It has been life-changing!

Everyone! Meet my friend, Jennifer! We have met in real life and I am so proud of her accomplishments!! She is truly a KJ Veteran! She’s a Trifecta student (has taken ALL THREE of our technical courses!) and has entrusted us to impact other parts of her business as well through templates and guides and the Business Collection! She was recently featured in the Knot Magazine with a SIX PAGE SPREAD (you go girl!!!!!!) and she has beautiful wisdom to share with anyone who thinks they need to be growing at a faster pace!!!

What has recently happened in your business that has made you step back and go “Oh my gosh! That just happened?!”

I was featured in the Spring 2021 National issue of The Knot Magazine in a 6 page spread! I still cannot believe something like that would ever happen to me! I submitted it on a whim and thought “Nah, they will never pick me.” I also said the same as I entered a local wedding venue map cover contest, they picked my image too! I think that sometimes you just have to do it, even it makes you uncomfortable or you think “it’ll never be you.” Sometimes it’s totally you!

What part of your KJ Education experience has impacted you the most?

Sooooooooooooooooooo many things, but I think overall, the client experience. From the Bridal Guide at booking to the same day slideshow and sneak peek blog, my clients just absolutely rave over their experience (and so do the vendors who benefit from that same experience) and I owe that all to KJ Education.

If you could sit down with a photographer that feels incredibly defeated and discouraged, what would you say to help them? Is there a story of overcoming and victory in your own story that you could share?

New York City wasn’t made in a day. I think we all have moments where we’re so eager that we want success to happen overnight, but the truth is, that just doesn’t happen. We are going to go through moments of defeat and deal with discouraging and depressing moments in our businesses, our lives and careers. But the greatest things aren’t built in a day and they weren’t built with ease. I truly think the moments of defeat are defining moments.. The moments where you are actually on the floor in tears thinking “what on earth have I gotten myself into” are the moments that mean the most. It humbles you as a business owner to have those moments and I believe those are the moments that truly make us stronger. Good things take time and during every moment of defeat you can say “Tomorrow will be better” or “this is just a bump in the road to success” because it’s honestly true. The most depressing moments in my career have actually just motivated me to push my own limits and make myself uncomfortable. But they’re always followed by great things.

Meet Sarah everyone! Sarah blew me away with this interview! She’s only been a professional photographer for NINE MONTHS!!!! 9 months!!! That is insane! She’s thriving and growing and booking weddings in the WORST year that our industry has ever seen! What an amazing win!!! I’m so honored that she’s a KJ Student and that she’s learning and growing through KJ All Access!!!

What has recently happened in your business that has made you step back and go “Oh my gosh! That just happened?!”

I’ve only been in he industry for 9 months and looking back at my very first sessions and seeing how much more efficient I’ve become makes me feel like I’m using a completely new camera. I have 3 weddings booked so far for this year and I never even thought I would be trusted to even be a wedding photographer, when at the beginning I was just excited to be making $75 a session and now I’ve over doubled my prices comfortably.

What part of your KJ Education experience has impacted you the most?

The community is amazing! Whenever I have a question I post it in the group and I can get help or a response really quickly. Everyone is about boosting each other up and really wanting the best for everyone! I’m some photographer groups everything feels like a competition but that’s not KJ’s group. There’s just something comforting about the community she has been able to create.

If you could sit down with a photographer that feels incredibly defeated and discouraged, what would you say to help them? Is there a story of overcoming and victory in your own story that you could share?

I would for sure show them my first sessions and then show them what I can create now just to show them how far I have come. It’s truly night and day. While I’m still developing my style and still learning every single day when I learned how to take beautiful photos I’m never stressed about an image comes out. If your just starting out you have to invest in yourself or no one else will!
