When you plan a wedding for late April, you expect decently warm temperatures. That’s a natural thing to expect because May is right around the corner! So when we arrived to Whitehall Manor and the temperature read “52”…. I wasn’t prepared. I had a cardigan and that was it! Thankfully, after I started shooting and the adrenaline started pumping, I was totally fine! I realized after we started the day that this weather surprise happened to the most perfect couple because Matt and Sarah, unlike me, were prepared for anything. They had such a deeply rooted understanding that their wedding day was about their love and celebrating their new marriage with their dear friends and family…. no matter what the temperature was!!
It’s like it didn’t even phase them!! :) I would check in with Sarah and say “How are you feeling? Do we need to go warm up?” and she would be totally fine and ready for more pictures! THAT’s my girl!!!
Sarah and Matt are incredible. They are both teachers and so they have such patience and composure… even when we’re flying through portraits before the rain sets in! I’m BEYOND thankful that these two shared a first look because that saved the day! We did almost ALL of their portraits before the rain came! YAY! The whole day was timed perfectly and worked in our favor and I can’t wait to share some of my favorites with you!
I can’t let you see them just yet because I need to tell you a few other things about Matt and Sarah first! There are several things that I have come to love about these two. 1. Matt can make anyone laugh… especially Sarah…. and this came in handy during portraits! 2. They are well-loved by their friends and family! :) 3. Band teachers have AWESOME bands at their reception…. like, a 20 PIECE BAND! Incredible! and 4. Matt and Sarah have such a sweet, genuine love for one another that was shown so perfectly throughout the day…. but especially during their first look. It was an HONOR to capture those sweet moments!!
Matt and Sarah we love you guys! We hope you’re WARM and enjoying the honeymoon!! It was such a privilege to be a part of your celebration and we consider you dear friends!!!
Warning! I went a little crazy on the detail shots! It had been 4 months since I had a chance to shoot details so there are ring shots galore!
GAH!!! What a dream ring!

Oh where do I begin? This wasn’t just another wedding for me. This was a legacy KJ Wedding and I have been looking forward to it ever since my first email from Danny and Megan!
I’m really excited about this YouTube video because I know that it resonates with ALL photographers who photograph PEOPLE!!
Have you ever walked into a client experience and realized “oh wow, this is not what I was expecting?” ….
