I don’t even know what “Doilies” really are. I just remember my Nanny giving them to us when we were little to make Valentines with! They’re definitely have pretty detail but I have yet to really understand what they’re used for. So, I came up with my own purpose for them! I’ve seen this done in so many ways before so I thought I’d try it myself. This is all you need:
$1 Doilies (Dollar Store)
There are so many different ideas for decorating receptions. The centerpieces, though sometimes overwhelming, are very simple to do. You just simply make a display for the table top and the possibilities are endless. It’s above the tables that are a little more complicated! This is a simple solution for any type of reception, specifically a shabby-chic/country wedding! It provides color and all kinds of detail! You could potential add larger and smaller tissue balls and create multiple layers! If only I had time, I would have done that.
However, it’s always a little interesting when I attempt these decorating adventures in the front yard. My dear neighbors…. which just happen to be a house full of guys, thought I was hanging BRAS in the tree! Those guys will stay nameless for now! I set them straight and fussed at them for not knowing it was Wedding Wednesday! Gosh don’t they check the blog?! (They actually do and I love them for it!) So, no Bras, just Doilies and Ribbon and a little tissue paper! Projects like these are high-impact, meaning that they can totally transform the look of a reception or any type of party for that matter! Try it someday!!
When we first decide if we’re a good fit with our potential KJ Couples, we’re looking for a few things…. one of those things is that this couple keeps joyful! We’ve found over the years that couples what take themselves super seriously aren’t always the best fit for us! We love it when couples let their guard down and allow us to get to know them during their engagement session.
Oh, this wedding day!! What a beautiful Texan dream! I met Melanie when she attended one of our workshops years ago in our home. She had the sweetest spirit and such a kindness about her. I remember loving how she made personal marketing her own and did headshots in a pile of Skinny Pop!! I loved her creativity and her ability to envision what she wanted in her brand.
My review of the Canon EOS R6 after shooting a full wedding day is LIVE on Youtube! I was so nervous to use a brand new camera system for full wedding day… I had my Mark IV ready in my bag just in case… but thankfully, I never had to use it! I was really hoping that I would love it and feel comfortable with it….
This wedding venue may look familiar to some of you who have been following us for a while! I photographed Meghan’s brother’s wedding a few years ago at this very same farm and venue!
Natural light photographers…. (flash photographers, we know how you would handle these scenarios and that’s awesome for your style! This is for the natural light folks!)
I’ve been hoping for this day for a very long time…. but I wasn’t sure that it would ever come. That sounds dramatic but let me explain. I LOVE my website company. Showit is incredible and the more I learn about and experience other platforms for hosting and creating custom websites, the more I realize, they aren’t really, truly “custom” at all. Showit is the website design platform for the creative. Hands-down. It’s so powerful, so intuitive and so easy to use. Years ago, Showit created a way to implement a Showit theme onto a Wordpress blog!!! Genius! I couldn’t wait for my blog to be a Showit blog…. but it never happened.
