It’s hard for me to remember the last time that I took portraits at the infamous Virginia Tech Duck Pond but I know it had to have been several years ago!
As we pulled into the parking lot, I saw the light (literally) and was immediately reminded of why this is a go-to spot for Hokies to take their engagement portraits! It’s beautiful and there are so many amazing options for portraits!!
While I may not be able to remember the last time I was at this location, I CAN remember the last time I saw this beautiful couple. We photographed John’s sister’s wedding over 6 years ago in 2016!! John and Lauren were dating and in high school! Now, they are in the midst of getting post-graduate degrees and are planning to get married next year! I was absolutely thrilled to get their email asking if I was available for their date. There is nothing better than getting to work with an amazing past KJ Couple’s family!!!
We loved our time with these two at their session. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a couple laugh and giggle as much as John and Lauren…. and I loved it. They made my job so easy which allowed me to be creative and do some fun things around the Virginia Tech Duck Pond! We took WAY too many portraits and had so much fun. I cannot wait to show up on their wedding day and work with them all over again. They feel like sweet old friends and that’s exactly how we like it!
Enjoy some of my favorites from their shoot and get EXCITED to see these two in wedding attire!!
As a professional photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless family portraits over the years. Each session presents a unique set of challenges, from managing energetic children to finding the perfect backdrops.
As a photographer, I’ve often found myself in situations where the location seemed lackluster or uninspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of the perfect setting, but the reality is that we don’t always have the luxury of shooting in the most visually stunning locations.
We rescheduled this shoot with the Smith family once because of a threat of rain. It wasn’t a totally horrible forecast but if there’s one thing that I learned about Colleen when I photographed her wedding, it’s that she loves the GLOW!
What’s better than doing a family session for one KJ couple? Photographing TWO and adding in Nonna and Grandpa!
As a professional wedding photographer, I’ve encountered my fair share of editing challenges on the job.
Have you ever closed out of Lightroom unhappy with the end result?
