I am going to take you on a little journey through one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me recently at a REAL wedding!
After 13+ years of shooting weddings, I like to think I have seen it ALL. Wild bridal party, crazy mother of the bride, high maintenance wedding planner, etc.
YIKES! Like I said, CRAZY. A lot was at stake after this incident because we were SO behind on our timeline. This incident showed me the POWER that I have as a photographer…I could either sit back and say, “Well, I had no control, look what happened” OR I could choose to be proactive and say “this happened and now what am I going to do about it!?”
In the middle of the chaos of the day, I captured one of my FAVORITE portraits because I chose to be proactive and lead my couple to get the portraits of their dreams, despite being an hour behind of schedule!
In this Youtube episode, you will see how I chose to show up and how I executed this wedding day despite the timeline struggles, the panic of the couple and guests and the sun setting FAST! As a photographer, YOU have the right to step up and step in when it comes to making decisions and giving your clients what they are paying you for!
P.S. If you aren’t prepared for situations like these, you can watch how I handle these situations in our membership; KJ All Access!

As a professional photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless family portraits over the years. Each session presents a unique set of challenges, from managing energetic children to finding the perfect backdrops.
As a photographer, I’ve often found myself in situations where the location seemed lackluster or uninspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of the perfect setting, but the reality is that we don’t always have the luxury of shooting in the most visually stunning locations.
We rescheduled this shoot with the Smith family once because of a threat of rain. It wasn’t a totally horrible forecast but if there’s one thing that I learned about Colleen when I photographed her wedding, it’s that she loves the GLOW!
What’s better than doing a family session for one KJ couple? Photographing TWO and adding in Nonna and Grandpa!
As a professional wedding photographer, I’ve encountered my fair share of editing challenges on the job.
Have you ever closed out of Lightroom unhappy with the end result?
