Michael and I got away for a couple of days. It was a short trip but it’s amazing how refreshing just two days can be when the only thing you have to do is explore a tropical island! We arrived in St. Thomas on Thursday and stayed there for two nights. We decided to save some money and stay at the Emerald Isle Best Western instead of The Ritz ha! Like we would ever stay at The Ritz!). The great thing about tropical islands is that it’s so beautiful, ANYWHERE is perfect! We loved it! We relaxed on the beach that evening and started talking about what we could do on Friday! Michael had his heart set on renting a SCOOTER!
Now I’m all for renting a scooter! That sounded like fun!! The only thing that worried me were the roads. We’re not used to driving on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the road and that was very obvious within our first 30 minutes of exploring. Wow. We had some close calls! (Don’t tell my mother!). After a little while, we got the hang of it. And I say “WE” but really, Michael was the only one driving. Growing up, I was the one who drove a go-cart into a parked car…. so driving a scooter in a different country wasn’t an option for Katelyn. I very willingly decided to take the backseat and document our travels. It was beautiful. We drove around the entire island and I loved it! We stopped by the infamous Magen’s Bay and it’s just as serene and peaceful as they it is. However, as gorgeous as that beach was, my favorite part of the trip was our scooter ride. We really loved it! Michael loved it so much that I got an email from him once we got home that said “Lets get one!” and he shared a link to a local scooter store! Can you imagine Michael and Katelyn riding their baby scooter around Short Pump?!! Oh gosh!
Anyway, after our scooter adventure, we packed up and headed over to St. John and prepared to shoot a wedding!! We did some scouting the day before and so some of these locations may look a tad familiar from Clint and Cary’s blog post! Enjoy!
Magen’s Bay! Oh Katelyn… not cool…. not cool. You feel so much cooler that you look when you wear a helmet like that! View from our room! gahh! Amazing! I told ya… I made Michael practice for me! The bride took this shot! Cary I’m so proud of your camera skills!Kelly is an incredible wedding photographer who has been shooting 90 weddings a year. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true!
