When I got the email I was THRILLED! Sure, I was going to be 10 weeks pregnant and there was no telling how I would feel shooting in the heat of Charleston, SC in July, but I didn’t care! This was such an honor! I emailed Emily (SW’s Editor!) back as soon as possible and shared our news, and we started planning! I absolutely love the SW Team, for so many different reasons, and so being asked to do an editorial shoot was a highlight of our entire summer! I remember telling Michael that Emily had asked us, and his response was “Well you said YES, right?!”. He knew how excited I would be about this!!!
So we drove down to Charleston and prepared for a long day of shooting. We started at 8am and worked through the afternoon. Emily is amazing and handled so many moving parts with such grace and patience. 8 different models showed up for hair and makeup! Each girl represented a different southern city! I loved the concept of this shoot because it meant that every dress and every “look” was going to be unique!! I loved everything from the dresses, to the hair, to the bouquets. If you pick up an issue of Southern Weddings V9 you’ll be able to see this feature spanning from pages 21-31!!!! AH!! Is this real life?! Every beautiful bride got a page of her own!! I also had the chance to shoot the “Cheers Ya’ll” feature from pages 46-49!!
It was such an honor to have this opportunity! I love this beautiful magazine, but I love what it stands for even more. The commitment to marriage and the vision that the SW ladies pursue with each and every issue is simply amazing!! Go pick up a copy and see for yourself!!
This week’s Where I Am is short, sweet, and exactly what it’s meant to be: a quick check-in on life, faith, and business.
Some sessions are special because of the people. Some sessions are special because of the place. And then there are sessions like this one… where everything comes together to create something truly unforgettable.
There’s been one theme showing up in every part of my life lately. It’s not one I was actively looking for, but I see it now—spiritually, personally, and professionally—and I’m paying attention.
