This was my ‘go home happy’ shot and once I got it, I knew this would be my favorite!
On the Youtube channel, I am sharing with you a wedding that really pushed my creativity to the NEXT LEVEL. I THRIVE when I am photographing in one location and can get really creative and evolve to a place of epic-ness! But that wasn’t the case with this wedding..
After running around busy downtown Chicago, photographing in multiple locations, I finally achieved my “go home happy shot” in the epic staircase at the Art Institute of Chicago! Photographing this shot was NOT easy but it is a shot that I am SUPER proud of. Isn’t that what every photograph wants to leave a session feeling like!?
I want to take you on the journey of how I accomplished this shot…I am going to share with you what I am thinking in my head and how my ideas evolve into creating something really spectacular instead of just average.

As a photographer, I’ve often found myself in situations where the location seemed lackluster or uninspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of the perfect setting, but the reality is that we don’t always have the luxury of shooting in the most visually stunning locations.
We rescheduled this shoot with the Smith family once because of a threat of rain. It wasn’t a totally horrible forecast but if there’s one thing that I learned about Colleen when I photographed her wedding, it’s that she loves the GLOW!
