As Abby made her way from the barn to the ceremony location, I was standing up front, right beside her grandfather. They lovingly refer to him as “Pop Pop” and I love that, because if I had ever had a chance to meet my dad’s dad, he would have been my “Pop Pop” too! As we waited for the bride, Pop pop stared at the alter and said “She used to do little shows for us when she was younger”. He was talking about Abby.
Then he went on to tell me about how special she was… how she cared for some of her other grandparents when they were at the end of their life because she’s a nurse, and those are her gifts. He just kept saying how special she was and I thought to myself “I have to remember this because Abby is just going to love knowing what her Pop Pop was saying about her as she was walking to her wedding ceremony!”. It was almost like he was recounting all of his favorite memories with her at one time. The last thing he said to me was “I wish my wife could be here…. 60 years we were married.” How beautiful is that? What a legacy to leave behind.
I loved my little interaction with Pop Pop… I felt like I had gotten a snippet into Abby’s childhood and made a new friend in a matter of 5 minutes. It’s little moments like this that I think “What other job allows you to produce such rewarding work and be heavily involved in such an important part of someone’s life?”. My job is such a gift, and I’m thankful for KJ Brides like Abby who welcome Michael and I into their life.
It was a perfect Fall wedding day for Abby and Chris to begin their new life together. I couldn’t help but think about the fact that one day, perhaps Abby and Chris will be helping each other walk down the aisle at their own grandchildren’s wedding and having a moment just like Pop Pop. Our lives and the time we’re given are so very precious, and it’s an honor to save these memories for our couples.

This beautiful day way unlike any wedding I have ever photographed before. It’s hard to put into words how powerful and inspiring it was.
If you’ve been following my updates since I got the R6 two years ago, you know I LOVE it!! It has been a game changer for me! But there is ONE mistake that I’ve made that cannot be fixed afterwards!
There are things that EVERY photographer should have on their website! We will walk through some students’ websites to see how small changes can impact their perceived value, and for you to see if what they’re missing is something that you are too!
You know what I’m realizing? I’m realizing I am loving getting to see people I love and miss in this very busy season of our life.
We’re gearing up for wedding season and there are so many ways to market yourself DURING a wedding to keep new clients coming in! I have been a wedding photographer for 13 years, and I have never paid for ‘traditional’ advertising!
I am eating my words again! For years, I have used InDesign for everything… but Canva had a HUGE update last year which changed everything!!
