Mac and Katelyn booked back in the winter and I remember being so excited about shooting in Charleston! We LOVE Charleston so much! The architecture, the food, the history… I think Michael and I need to visit Chucktown more often! Even though I was just so happy to be working with these two… I did have a few hopes for this wedding. I tried not to have any expectations because that can just lead to disappointment but I was secretly hoping for a few things on their wedding day!!
I was secretly hoping to 1. Shoot Bride and Groom portraits with some low hanging spanish moss! This just screams Charleston and I was hoping that the Legare Waring House would have some moss options. OH did it have some moss options! Moss for DAYS! 2. I was praying for low humidity so that Katelyn and Mac wouldn’t be miserably hot during their photos. It was a perfect 85 degrees with low humidity. That is RARE in July! So thankful! And last but not least, 3. I hoped for a little bit of glowy light at sunset! It’s hard to get that glow mid-summer because of the haze that rises from humidity but we had a perfectly clear sunset and it was magical!!
Everything seemed to flow so perfectly for Mac and Katelyn on their wedding day. They deserved this. They have been through a lot these last few months and I’m so thankful that their wedding day was filled with so much joy and celebration.
I casually asked if their friends were “dancers” and they laughed and just said “Yes… there are quite a few dancers here” and they were right! The dance floor was full all night! Mac and Katelyn were surrounded by such amazing, loyal friends and family. It was a joy to be a part of this celebration and to capture this amazing new chapter in their life!
Mac and Katelyn, you two are amazing. We have loved getting to know you, your families and your friends throughout this process and because you’re fellow RVA’ers, we sure hope to run into you once you’re home! We can’t thank you enough for allowing us to be a part of your day!!! ENJOY reliving your day through your blog post!!!

Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’m always looking for ways to do life differently. Whether it’s in business, family, or personal growth, I’ve learned that stepping away from the norm often leads to the most profound transformations.
In today’s world, the idea of a “healthy home” can feel overwhelming. With constant information about toxins, processed foods, and environmental risks, it’s easy to feel defeated before you even start. So I’m sharing our journey and the small, impactful steps we’ve taken towards a healthier home.
Wedding days can be incredibly stressful for everyone involved. Photographers, brides, grooms, and guests alike often find themselves overwhelmed by the schedule and the numerous details that need attention. However, there are key “in-between” moments throughout the day that can be leveraged to create a smoother experience and better outcomes. As the photographer, you can calm the nerves of everyone there and capture their day beautifully!
This week, Michael is sitting down with me at the microphone to join me on the podcast! When we started our Acton Academy journey, we had big dreams and very little idea of the practical challenges that lay ahead. Today, in year three of running our own Acton Academy, Michael and I are thrilled to reflect on the incredible transformation we’ve seen in our learners, our community, and even our own perspectives on education.
