The room was buzzing with chatter and excitement when I walked in. I always love it when bridesmaids come up and introduce themselves before I have a chance to because it’s just so welcoming! True southern charm! That could have been the overarching theme of this wedding day. From the coordinator to the parents of the bride and groom to the bridal party… everyone was so sweet and welcomed Michael and I with open arms. We absolutely loved this wedding day. The more time I spend around Ashley, the more I adore her. Not only is she radiant and beautiful on the outside but she has a heart of gold and Robert is one blessed man! These two met when Ashley’s family moved to Virginia over ten years ago and man has time flown by! Ashley’s dad toasted to the happy couple right before dinner and explained that it seems like yesterday that this little blonde boy showed up at their house.
Since they were kids, Robert and Ashley have been friends and then one summer, something changed. This childhood friendship became a beautiful relationship that has lasted for years and years! Their story resonates with Michael and I because we had the same story. We don’t really remember life without one another! When you know and love someone for SO long, it’s hard to change the way you view them in an instant. Ashley said after the ceremony that it hadn’t really sunk in that she was Robert’s WIFE! … That’s probably because she spent YEARS being his girlfriend! :) Now she has a new title….and she loves it! Finally, after years of waiting.. she’s Mrs. Powell!!
As they danced and celebrated, friends from all over came up to congratulate them and share hugs and well wishes. It’s evident that these two are dearly loved. Michael and I loved being a part of their wedding day! I left feeling like a had a new group of girlfriends because Ashley’s bridesmaids are just THAT amazing! It was such a fun Saturday and I’m actually kind of sad that it’s over…. which is a good thing… because it means that I love me job! I love capturing images that make my bride’s dreams come true…. and I get to do that every. single. weekend! Ashley was such a beautiful, encouraging bride that was so excited about her photography!!! I can’t wait to share these!! So without further adieu! Enjoy Robert and Ashley’s gorgeous wedding day at the historic Hotel Roanoke!
