all of these “Weekend Wrap Up’s” and Mash-up Monday posts and I always think to myself “I wanna do a weekend recap one day!!”… And then I realize, “Oh wait, I already do, they are called wedding posts”. It’s true…. if I was to blog and recap my weekends the past 6 months it would be wedding after wedding after wedding… well not this weekend people!!!! This weekend Michael and I spent our time a little differently and I’m excited to share it with you! This weekend we were chaperone’s for our Youth Group’s annual fall retreat.
This isn’t new to us, we’ve done this the last 4 years but this weekend was super special to us because we’ve been MIA so much this fall due to wedding season. We took on 42 weddings because we just wanted to be sure that we were safe financially since Michael joined me full time this year AND we built a new house. Well, we now know that 42 weddings is possible but it isn’t something we are going to be doing on an annual basis. Why? Well, we had a ton of Sunday weddings and I missed being a part of our church family. I missed seeing our friends and I missed leading worship! So next year we’re setting some new boundaries so that we can have more balance and we’re really excited about that.
So on to our weekend…. we left Friday afternoon for Camp Willow Run on Lake Gaston… but of course we had to stop and see Catching Fire…. all 50+ of us. We dominated that theater AND the Cici’s pizza that we ate at afterwards. The movie was amazing and our weekend was off to a great start!! I absolutely loved my time with this awesome group of kids! Michael and I are SO SO thankful that we get to be a part of their lives and even though we’re lacking in sleep and energy, the memories that were made were worth it!!!! Enjoy some of the highlights of the retreat!!!
