how I had never been to Roanoke before. You you’ve lived in the same state your whole life, you would think that I would have at least driven through Roanoke at some point but I hadn’t! I heard people mention Roanoke and I thought to myself, “Oh, it must be a little town in the mountains”. I had no idea what to expect! As I drove into the city at 7:45am last Thursday, I was shocked to find that Roanoke is a CITY!! Complete with tall buildings, one way streets and A LOT of hills! Since this was a sunrise shoot (my first one actually!), I was proud of myself for finding my way there! We all know that mornings are not my favorite part of the day
and so this shoot was something new for me. I have to say that after Tyler, Amy and I got started, I realized I really do love shooting in the AM! The light is different than evening shoots but I loved the way it photographed. The city was just starting to wake up when we were walking the streets and so there were some moments when I felt like we had the city to ourselves. We walked up and down the blocks, shooting in every great location we could find! Tyler and Amy are the sweetest. They really are. Tyler just graduated from Liberty and Amy is finishing early at the end of this semester. They met, fell in love and they’re getting MARRIED!! I’m so excited to be a part of this big day. After spending just over an hour and a half with them, I could tell that this was a good match. There is nothing better than driving home from an engagement shoot and thinking “Aw, I can’t wait to see them again!”. That’s how you know you’re working with the right people!
So here are some of my favorites from last week! Enjoy the morning light and a little peek of downtown Roanoke!!
Love the light in these! You guys are so cute!! Ohh heyyy Roanoke! Loving all the old rooftop signs! Amy you’re beautiful! How awesome are their colors?! And yes, we found buildings to match! Work it! Such Jcrew models…. A favorite!!
Kelly is an incredible wedding photographer who has been shooting 90 weddings a year. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true! Kelly’s success and the volume of work she handles is truly impressive.
