We arrived to the tidal basin early in the morning. Well, we thought it was early. It seemed like the rest of the world had started their day three hours prior! People were camped out along the water as far as the eye could see and I was just amazed! In the past, I have photographed the cherry blossoms but I have always headed up to DC after the festival was over. This past weekend, we photographed the amazing Mike and Erin DURING the Cherry Blossom festival! All four of us deserve some kind of awesome award for accomplishing this!!
If you have never experienced the Cherry Blossoms of DC in the spring, it’s amazing. I totally understand why people travel from all over to see this beautiful sight! These trees and their blooms make for amazing pictures and we were lucky enough to find a few spots that we had to ourselves!! It’s actually a miracle! With thousands of tourists around, we still managed to shoot some portraits without anyone in the background!
Mike and Erin were so amazing and they totally went with the flow! Michael was our chauffeur and he dropped us of and then would loop back around to pick us up once we were done!! This is the ONLY way we were able to have such a variety in the midst of the chaos of the festival!
Mike and Erin are getting married early this fall and the more I learn about them, the more excited I get to photograph their wedding! Erin has a deep love for Anthropology and the sweetest demeanor in the world and Mike is laid back and super easy to talk to. Together they make such an amazing duo and we just loved hearing more about their life, their wedding plans, their friends, and their ultimate frisbee skills!! Enjoy getting to know them through some of my favorite images from their shoot!
One of my favorites!! Hands down!
So thankful for this tree!
Another favorite! You two are beautiful!
Again, another miracle!! We avoided so many tourists in this image!
Erin’s beautiful diamond has been in her family for generations!
I’m not a big harsh, direct light fan… but I do love this!!
Kelly is an incredible wedding photographer who has been shooting 90 weddings a year. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true! Kelly’s success and the volume of work she handles is truly impressive.
Your sessions should be working FOR you not against you!
Shooting in manual mode might seem complex and overwhelming at first but there is an easier way!
