There’s something about spring that just feels like change.
This week, I can sense things shifting—in our life, our business, our family rhythms. It feels like things are blooming (yes, I know this is as cliché as it sounds on the first week of spring), and this new season is already teaching me so much!
So here’s where I am right now—personally, professionally, and spiritually:
This weekend, I’m speaking at a Christian women’s conference—something I haven’t done in a long time.
Since having five children, the weight and demands of motherhood have kept me in a quieter, more behind-the-scenes season.
But now?
This feels like a stretch… but also a beautiful reminder that God can stir something up again even when you thought that chapter was on pause!
This week, I had the incredible honor of teaching two live webinars with over 7,000 photographers registered and nearly 2,000 attending live.
If you’ve ever hosted a live class, you know those numbers are amazing—and honestly, it filled me with so much joy!!
There’s something about showing up live that brings energy, connection, and purpose in a way that just filming alone in a room doesn’t.
And as I reflected afterward, I was reminded of something really important for any creative entrepreneur or business owner:
Someone else can help set up your webinar.
Someone can spellcheck your slides, prep the tech, and manage the follow-up.
But only I can teach the way I teach.
And the same goes for you!
Whether you’re a solo wedding photographer or running a growing brand—there’s one role in your business that can’t be outsourced.
That is what you should lean into. That’s where your magic lives.
This week, I was able to fully show up in that “only I can do this” role because I’ve intentionally built a team around me who supports everything else.
And friend, that’s not just for someone with a big platform—that’s possible at any level.
Even if you’re a one-woman show right now, how can you start outsourcing or delegating just one thing to make room for what only you can do?
That’s how we grow with purpose and peace!
At our school (Acton Academy West End), we’re starting to feel the stretch of growth in a very real way!
Our current space is bursting at the seams, and we’re dreaming, praying, and planning for how we can expand—including breaking ground on a new building in the next year!!
Just last week I shared that we are under contract for the land and I can’t believe how fast things are moving!!
It’s exciting and overwhelming in equal measure, but watching our kids and their friends thrive in this environment reminds me why we said yes to building something different in the first place.
It’s not just about education—it’s about calling out purpose, leadership, and joy in young lives!
This feels deeply personal, but also wildly professional—because so much of our life, family, and work are beautifully intertwined in this vision.
On a recent girls’ trip, my best friend Jill encouraged me to start The Bible Recap—a chronological Bible reading plan through the Bible App.
She and her husband, Buddy, are doing it, and their encouragement gave me the nudge I needed!
So Michael and I have committed to it together, and while we’re only a few days in… whew. It’s already stretching me!
There are parts of the Bible I don’t naturally gravitate toward, and I’m realizing how much I don’t understand.
But that’s the point, right? It’s not about checking a box—it’s about letting Scripture shape us, even when it’s not easy or exciting.
If you’ve done The Bible Recap or have tips for sticking with it (especially as a busy mom of four!)—I’m all ears!
So that’s where I am this week:
If you’re also in a season of growth or stretch—or if you’re sensing something new is blooming in your life—I’d love to hear from you!
Marketing for a wedding photography business isn’t just different—it’s in a league of its own.
I’ll never forget the morning I woke up for my very first wedding.
It’s spring break. Which, for many people, might mean rest and reset. But in our world right now? It feels more like we’re standing in the middle of a winding, messy, beautiful chapter of our own Hero’s Journey—and the stretch is very, very real.
This week has been… a lot.
Personally, professionally, and spiritually, I’ve felt stretched, unsettled, and oddly grateful—all at the same time.
There’s something about spring that just feels like change.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you’re editing photos late at night, maybe sprawled out on the couch or even in bed? You feel like you’re on a roll, everything looks fantastic, and then morning hits.
