I woke up on this wedding day to the sound of rain hitting our bedroom window and I was ready for the challenge. Rainy wedding days pull out something in me that other wedding days don’t.
It’s almost as if there is a creative side to me that only comes out to play on wedding days with rain! I told this to the bridesmaids and I meant it! This day also meant something special to me because I have known Crossley since she was barely in high school. She has always been full of life, joy, compassion and kindness. It makes perfect sense why she found a spouse that exhibits the same exact qualities. Chip is an incredibly sweet guy. He adores Crossley and that’s so evident in every interaction. From the first look to the little moments throughout the night, you can tell that these two are just so happy to be starting this new chapter of their story.
Life has been extremely challenging for these two over the last few months and they deserved a day with no stress, no worry, just pure joy and excitement. That is exactly what they received! As we loaded up in the car to head to a portrait location in the rain, I was just hoping we could find some cover at the porch of the Capitol! Well, right before the Capitol property, I found a gorgeous church with the most perfect porch and columns. The light was just amazing and we were able to not only capture some beautiful portraits, we were able to do it in record time and get the timeline back on track!! (This is actually one of my specialties on wedding days! Tyler calls it the “KJ Effect”! ha!)
We made it back to the hotel and it was time to get married!! As you scroll through these photos, please notice a few things! 1. How Chip looks at Crossley. 2. How amazing Crossley’s blue eyes are! and 3. Be on the lookout for some sister shots! I love these Wagner girls!

As a professional photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless family portraits over the years. Each session presents a unique set of challenges, from managing energetic children to finding the perfect backdrops.
As a photographer, I’ve often found myself in situations where the location seemed lackluster or uninspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of the perfect setting, but the reality is that we don’t always have the luxury of shooting in the most visually stunning locations.
We rescheduled this shoot with the Smith family once because of a threat of rain. It wasn’t a totally horrible forecast but if there’s one thing that I learned about Colleen when I photographed her wedding, it’s that she loves the GLOW!
What’s better than doing a family session for one KJ couple? Photographing TWO and adding in Nonna and Grandpa!
As a professional wedding photographer, I’ve encountered my fair share of editing challenges on the job.
Have you ever closed out of Lightroom unhappy with the end result?
