Well guess what friends!!! We haven’t sold our house. As you may remember, we put it on the market back in May and we’ve just been waiting! … Sometimes patiently and other times not so patiently. We’ve had tons of showings, tons of open houses, brokers opens and hundreds of flyers taken from the front yard. We were selected as one of the most-viewed listing in the NATION on Zillow and yet still… nothing. Our neighbors are baffled, our realtor is hopeful and we’re a little confused ourselves.
Our neighborhood has two lots left to build and that has caused a hold up and then on top of that, everyone else that is interested has had very random reasons why it may not be perfect for them. Some say it’s too big, some say it’s too small…. some say they want a bigger backyard, some say they aren’t really serious about buying yet. Some love the kitchen and some love the living room. Some want a bigger dining room and some don’t want a dining room at all. Some love the first floor master and others want another bedroom upstairs. We just literally haven’t found OUR PERSON yet… and you know what?…
That’s OK
It’s ok because God’s timing has NEVER failed us in the past… even when we didn’t understand it at first. It’s also ok because our future home situation is still being finalized… which we’ll share ONE DAY! :) The funny thing is hearing all of the rumors and guesses. There are some great ones out there…. like that we’re opening up our own wedding venue. ha! Guys, I think I have enough on my plate without starting a wedding venue!! The truth is, we have been dreaming about this next step since DECEMBER and so even though the house-selling part seems super slow, this entire PROCESS has been slow and this is what I’ve realized:
1. The longer it takes, the more time we have to be confident in our decision. We have prayed about this A LOT more than we ever would have if our house had sold in 24 hrs like everyone said it would! :) And more prayer equals more clarity and more clarity leads to more confidence in our decision.
2. Just because you have one of the MOST VIEWED HOMES on Zillow…. doesn’t mean you’re going to sell it in 24 hours. Also, just because you have a BEAUTIFUL home doesn’t mean you’re going to sell it in 24 hours… or even two months!
3. Having a house that is constantly ready for a showing is one of the most DRAINING things ever…. both physically and emotionally!!!
4. Trader Joes has the best hydrangeas if you ever find yourself in need of constant fresh flowers in your home. Also, the white ones live 3x longer than the blue ones. So there’s that. :)
5. Don’t underestimate FLYERS. We live in the digital age but we have to fill up our printed flyers box every single week because people that drive by LOVE taking something home!
So, how are we doing in all of this? We’re doing just fine. :) If anything, Michael and I have been cherishing our time in our house more than we ever have. When you never know when it’s going to be sold, you tend to appreciate it more and more because any moment now, it could be under contract and we’ll be packing up a ton of teal vases and ikea frames. :) So I hope you enjoyed our little house update and for those who also have homes on the market, I wish you the BEST of luck…. but don’t tell me if you sold in 10 hours because I may get just a LITTLE bitter. haha j/k…. but seriously. :)
Ps. Here are some new pictures. My office is gone :( But we now have a dining room! This re-do was about $200 and I’ll share more about it one day in another HMH post!
