This wedding is special to me. Growing up, Michael and I were Youth Group kids. Our best friendships, our craziest adventures and the foundation of our faith stemmed from our time and experiences in Youth Group and we owe so much of our growth to our leaders. Jennifer’s dad, TJ, was one of those leaders. He never missed a mission trip. He was always down for something crazy. He was kind, trustworthy, loyal and I know he loved us and loved the Lord.
It still seems so hard to believe that he isn’t here. TJ lost his battle with cancer four years ago and we’ve felt a hole in our lives ever since. However, because TJ was one of the happiest guys we have ever known… full of energy and joy… I think he would want us to be rejoicing… especially on his daughter’s wedding day.
Paul and Jennifer’s wedding day was what a country couple’s wedding dreams are made of! They have cattle in the background of their portraits, the ceremony overlooked a small pond and their sunset portraits were taken in an open field while their reception was held in a gorgeous white barn (that has a REALLY great air conditioning system! Praise the Lord!) It was a HOT day… but it was also so beautiful.
Their wedding day was rescheduled from May because of the pandemic and so it seemed like such a win to get to celebrate with them and finally capture them as a married couple! My dad officiated the ceremony and made everyone tear up. He has a way of doing that, especially when he’s remembering a dear friend.
