While it was so awesome to have national recognition for our hard work and hustle from the past 14 years, we realize that a short-form article highlighting our success isn’t the most realistic depiction of our reality and what it takes to create a business like we have created.
We get it. CNBC’s “Make It” blog is a place for wild stories of success and inspiration for those wanting to grow their own business and “side hustles”. While my business DID start as a side hustle when I was a college student, it hasn’t been a side hustle for over 12 years and the journey to get where we are today has truly been 14 years in the making! It seemed like a great opportunity to share more about this part of my life that I’ve never gotten a chance to share before!
When I sat down in my studio to record this podcast episode, I had a few goals in mind:
- I wanted to explain how this side of our business works. The team, the structure, the growth, the beginnings, etc.
- I wanted to empower others who read super inspirational articles with big numbers and seemingly magical work/life balance to be able to discern what the true reality is and pay attention to what WASN’T shared just as much as they are drawn to what WAS shared.
- I wanted to say “Thank you” to our team… especially my sister… who makes this ship keep sailing constantly. I felt like my team was the most neglected in what the editors chose to publish and so this podcast episode explains just how I can be a mom of *almost* four young kids and only work 4 hours a day but still run a profitable business.
In this episode, you’ll hear me explain:
- Where the education business came from….
- How we grew it…
- And how it is maintained! … With some random real-life stories thrown in here and there!
Enjoy!
