Why I Rebuilt My Website from Scratch

For years, my website reflected one part of me: the high-end wedding photographer.

But as I’ve grown—through motherhood, online education, entrepreneurship, and even  opening a school—I’ve changed! 

And yet…my site stayed the same.

I knew it was time when I realized I was hiding the multidimensional version of myself behind a polished but incomplete brand. 

My old site wasn’t wrong. It was just… not me anymore!

From Bandaids to a Bold Rebuild

Through the last several years we’d patched things here and there—font updates, new product pages, tweaks to make it “work.” 

But eventually, it felt like a house we’d outgrown, with additions that no longer flowed!

So we tore it down to the studs and rebuilt it custom, with help from Jen Olmstead of Tonic Site Shop.

I’ve been working with Jen on my site for over a decade! She’s such a dear friend and her brain is just incredible!! Every time we met I just awed over new ideas she had and the amount of times I said “Oh Jen, I LOVE THIS!” …was innumerable! 

From the start I told Jen: This wasn’t going to be just a rebrand. It needed to be my reintroduction.

I’ve joked in the last year that I’d become KJ 3.0. She’s the version of me that:

• Still teaches photographers how to master their craft
• Still runs an education company and a school
• But also helps entrepreneurs use their story to shape a brand that builds real trust

I’ve walked through hard things, disappointment and dark seasons.

I’ve experienced the collision of story, purpose, and profit. 

And I’ve learned that when we show up as our full selves, our brands stop acting like they have to perform! 

And instead, our story takes over and resonates with our audience!!

THIS is what I want to show the world how to do. How to tell your story and the power it has to grow your business.

I could’ve launched this quietly, but that just wouldn’t be me would it?!
