Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. Pros & Cons of Client Friendships

  • Ask Anything

I’m just being honest here…. this wasn’t on the blog calendar! This post is an excerpt from my WPPI talk that I’m working on as I type. No literally…. I’m typing on here, then I switch over to keynote and I add a slide and then I’m back to blogging. It’s just the way my brain is working right about now!! So there are a few things I realized while preparing my talk. I don’t just want to write about MY experience… I want to hear from you guys. If you’re a photographer, you can help me write my WPPI talk and I want you to be a part of this!!! I need your personal experience to validate this point!

Making Your Blog User Friendly

  • Ask Anything

I’ll be the first to admit that my blog isn’t perfect. Even a month after the new “look” was launched, we’re still making tweaks! When you blog for over 6 years, it’s quite a process to transfer everything you have ever published! So while it isn’t perfect, we have worked really hard to make sure that our new blog and website are user friendly and easy to navigate! Flosites has been working on implementing some ideas that we had for the category section and we are so excited to see it all come together! It’s not PERFECT yet but we’re getting there!

An Extra Sweet Way to Welcome Guests

  • A Home Made for Hosting

I can’t take the credit for this idea that is LITERALLY sweet! Michael and I drove to my designer’s home in northern Virginia during our rebrand process we were treated like royalty! Jen and Aaron Olmstead are the BEST hosts. Despite all of the work we needed to do and the fact that they have a new baby, they pulled out all of the stops to make sure we felt welcomed and at home! The more Michael and I travel and stay with friends, the more I realize that there are SO many little ways that people make us feel welcomed!
