Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. Tom + Meagan | Engaged

  • Catholic University of America Engagement Session

Every session has something that is unique about it! This session was going GREAT until a security guard told us that you can’t shoot around the largest Catholic Church in America! Luckily, we had already gotten all of our must-have shots done and we were on a roll! Tom and Meagan picked up on the poses quickly and that meant that we got a lot accomplished before we were told that professional photography wasn’t allowed! It worked out perfectly. We casually crossed the street and used some pretty locations around the Basilica!

Breaking Ground!

  • Building a Home Made for Hosting

I was at the Pursuit conference and Michael was at another conference when we realized that there was a slight chance that our builders had started building OUR HOUSE!! I didn’t think that the permits had come in and so I really didn’t expect anything but Michael asked our good friend Tyler to go take a look! I was standing in the back of the auditorium at the conference when Ashley (Ty’s wife) got a text with pictures of the DIRT!!! I don’t know what came over me but as soon as I saw the pictures of the excavators and piles of dirt, I turned into one big puddle!

Gino + Jen | Engaged

  • University of Richmond Engagement Portraits

Engagement season is HERE!! We have three engagement sessions in four days! The first of this round of sessions was for Gino and Jen! They live up in NY and so since they were down doing some wedding planning, we decided to sneak in their engagement session as well! We met at 6:30am…. yes… 6:30. It was early but as the sun started to rise, I remembered why I love sunrise sessions so much. There is something different about the morning sunlight!
