  • 2012 Money Shots

when I shoot, I have these strange moments when I can FEEL that I took a great shot. Doesn’t that sound strange? I just get this feeling like “That one was a money shot!!”.  It doesn’t happen ALL the time but every now and then, I FEEL IT!  I think this feeling comes from pushing my own boundaries, trying new things, going for the “epic” shot and taking some risks. Just this past Saturday, I asked my couple to climb into some old john boats at the end of their portrait time…. was it a little dirty? Probably. Would the bride’s mother be freaking out if she saw her daughter sitting on a john boat in her wedding dress?

A Winter Hampton Roads Wedding

  • Joseph + Melissa

Every year I have a winter wedding that I book and I think “Man! That’s so far away!”.  When Joe and Melissa booked back in the summer, December seemed so far off…. like it would never get here! Then fall came and that wasn’t the case anymore. Before I knew it, we were 2 weeks away and I was wondering where the month of December had gone!! Joe and Melissa tied the knot in Hampton, VA this past Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church. This is a random fact but my grandparents are members at Liberty and my mom and dad were actually married there many moons ago! It was good to be in a familiar area with familiar people that I love! If you remember from their engagement shoot,

A Year in Review

  • Best of Weddings 2013

So here is a MASSIVE wedding post! I have to admit, I’m HORRIBLE at narrowing down images. I really am. I cannot, for the life of me, pick one image from each wedding that I love the most. So what did I do? I blogged over 200 favorites today. Yikes! If the blog crashes, I understand why and I take full responsibility. This is what happens when you shoot 42 beautiful weddings in one year! Now some photographers did a big “best of” series! They posted the best dresses, best details, etc. I wish I could have done that but it would have taken forever!
