This was my FIFTH year of being a part of JAZZ NATIVITY! Now before I continue, let me explain… this isn’t a nativity reenactment! We always seem to confuse people with that! This is a CHRISTMAS JAZZ CONCERT! It started ten years ago, and it has grown every year since! We now have FIVE shows, over 2 hours of numbers, professional lighting teams, Starbucks on-site sponsoring the event, and a total attendance of over 2000 people! It is QUITE a production!
One year I missed being a part of Jazz Nativity because of a destination wedding, and let me tell you, I will NEVER do that again! We loved that wedding, but we really missed being a part of Jazz Nativity. It’s almost like it doesn’t feel like Christmas unless we have this weekend at church!!!
So this year was a little different for me. I’m 30 weeks pregnant. Now… I don’t know how many of you have ever been 30 weeks pregnant and have had to stand in front of hundreds of people at a time and PERFORM… but it’s a little intimidating! There’s a 3 pound little girl pushing against my diaphragm, and I have never had such a lack of AIR during a performance, but we made it through!! One day we’ll show her these videos and tell her she was performing before she was even born! Who knows if she’ll be musical or not, but she sure did like it when the trumpets and saxophones would play! She moved all around during those numbers!!
Jazz Nativity is a lot of work for a lot of people. David Esleck and Rich Moncure make the musical performance side come to life, and then there’s an entire team of people who make an incredible number of things happen behind-the-scenes! When we begin our wedding season this coming April, they will be starting to plan Jazz Nativity for Christmas 2017 ! It’s such a commitment, and we’re so grateful for their hard work and dedication to making the show better and better every year!!! Enjoy some images from this past weekend!
Ps. Jazz Nativity friends there are SO many more pictures to come! These are just some favorites!
And thanks to Tyler Herrinton for always being our life videographer! :) This is from his iPhone, but we’re glad to have documentation of me trying to catch my breath and make it through my song!! :)
Kelly is an incredible wedding photographer who has been shooting 90 weddings a year. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true! Kelly’s success and the volume of work she handles is truly impressive.
Your sessions should be working FOR you not against you!
Shooting in manual mode might seem complex and overwhelming at first but there is an easier way!
