I received an email several months ago that went something like this “Katelyn, Cate is engaged and I know it’s a long shot but are you available?!”. Cary was one of our brides 3 years ago and because we photographed her wedding in St. John with only her family in attendance, the Spiers family hold a special place in our hearts. During Clint and Cary’s destination wedding, we came to know the Spiers family better than most families we work with. We loved spending time with Dr. & Mrs. Spiers but we also enjoyed getting to know Cate and Sarah…. the Spiers sisters!
The three Spiers sisters combined are just hilarious. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard during the “getting ready” portion of a wedding day. They remind me so much of my siblings. They adore each other, but they’re just sarcastic enough to have a ton of fun when they are together. When Michael and I arrived at Pippin Hill, we stopped outside of the entrance to discuss where to meet for the first look and we immediately heard knocking and then saw waving coming from the bridal suite! Right, then I knew that it was the right decision to take on just ONE more wedding and expand our season. Who could turn down a Pippin Hill wedding with a family that you already know and love?!
The day was gorgeous. There were soft clouds that created a giant softbox for the entire wedding day and it was a dream! Dominick and Cate decided not to worry about having a bridal party and I have to say, it wasn’t a bad idea! We had so much portrait time and I even got to explore NEW locations at Pippin Hill because we weren’t rushing to stay on a strict timeline. The Spiers girls know how to have a stress-free wedding! One thing that I love about these girls is that they don’t feel any pressure to live up to the commonly over-the-top expectations of the wedding industry.
You know the phrase “You do You”?! That fits them perfectly. They focused on the parts of the day that mattered to them and the rest just fell into place. Thankfully for us, photography is a part of the day that they value and truly care about and we were so honored to be able to capture yet another precious celebration for this sweet family!!!
Enjoy this FINAL wedding of 2015!!!
I love this sweet shot!
Remember these two on the right?! Love them!
I loved being able to take them to a new location at Pippin Hill for portraits!

Have you ever tried to sit down with your spouse to talk about dreams, goals, and vision—only for it to turn into frustration or misalignment? If so, you’re not alone. Vision casting in marriage is hard because it brings up deeper fears, beliefs, and unspoken dynamics that many couples don’t even realize are at play.
Success—it’s a word we hear all the time. But what does it really mean? Is it about financial security? Status? Owning a dream home or taking extravagant vacations?
When you think about your business, do you see it as simply a job—or something more?
Today, I’m diving into an experience that was nothing like I anticipated: my digital detox in December. If you’ve ever considered taking a break from the noise of the online world, you might relate to my journey—the good, the surprising, and the, well, completely unplanned.
The wedding industry has faced unique challenges recently, with inflation affecting budgets and couples cutting costs. If you’re a wedding photographer feeling the pinch, don’t worry—2025 doesn’t have to be a slow year.
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Over the last few months, I’ve been on a medical rollercoaster that I never saw coming.
