You know it’s going to be a hot day when it’s 85 degrees at 11am. I left the house and prepared myself for a long day in the sun. Despite the heat, I was excited! Preston and Katie are a sweet couple. I’ve loved them since day one and they were getting married at a location that I have never photographed before….and I LOVE THAT! New places mean new ideas and that’s fun for a photographer! I couldn’t be one of those photographers that shoots at the same venue 15 times a year! I need some variety in my life and so Clover Forest Plantation sounded exciting to me! I drove through some country roads and then I saw it. It was gorgeous. Tucked back in the rolling hills of Goochland county is a 17th century plantation
home that makes the most amazing wedding venue. It’s just beautiful! I met the girls and began shooting some details and the southern-ness of this wedding just started oozing out! Katie’s dress, the girl’s hot pink room with thick crown molding, the driveway lined with old trees… it’s about as southern as you get. The whole day flowed flawlessly… Katie even made jumping over a fence in her dress look graceful somehow!! After we finished their portraits, we walked to the house to prepare for their introductions. You could hear friends and family laughing and chatting under the tent. Preston and Katie danced their first dance as husband and wife and then spent the next hour just being loved on by family and friends who adore them. It’s very evident that these two make an awesome pair. I feel honored that I was able to photographer their live and their wedding day!!! Katie and Preston, I hope the honeymoon is AMAZING and I can’t wait for you to get back to see your beautiful wedding through my lens!! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Jones!!!
This girly getting-ready room was awesome!!Oh where do I begin? This wasn’t just another wedding for me. This was a legacy KJ Wedding and I have been looking forward to it ever since my first email from Danny and Megan!
I’m really excited about this YouTube video because I know that it resonates with ALL photographers who photograph PEOPLE!!
Have you ever walked into a client experience and realized “oh wow, this is not what I was expecting?” ….
